As information around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) develops, we will update information below for our families, parents, students and staff on this page.
Update as of March 23rd, 2020,
Romulus Community Schools will be following Governor Whitmer's order to "Stay Home and Stay Safe". Essential services, like food service and essential district operations will continue. To ensure that our students can continue to be fed in this difficult time, the district will continue offering walk up and drive up service at the five (5) sites listed below, from 10am-12pm. We are concerned about everyone's safety and welfare, and working with the State of Michigan to provide everything we possibly can for our community. Enrichment packets will continue to be available at the 5 sites until they are gone.
- Romulus High School
- Wick Elementary School
- Barth Elementary School
- Romulus Elementary School
- Halecreek Elementary School
For questions about enrollment (or other district matters), please call Mary Kennedy on Tuesdays/Thursdays, from 9am-5pm. (734) 532-1610
Spring Break Questions
This mandatory school closure declared by Governor Whitmer's office was intended to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus. Officially this closure is from March 16th through April 5th. However, the RCS Spring Break is listed on the calendar from April 6th through April 12th. As of today, WE DO NOT KNOW whether our scheduled Spring break will be disrupted, as we await feedback from state authorities. Additionally, we do not know whether the school year calendar or school days will be extended. We will keep everyone updated as we have more information.
CDC Tips for Prevention
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the following precautionary measures to reduce risk:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Grade Level Enrichment Packets
In addition to feeding our children's bodies, we also want their MINDS to be fed during this closure, too. On Thursday, March 19th, learning packets will be distributed along our bus routes for each grade level, so that our students may continue to practice, explore, and remember what they've already learned.
Lower & Upper Elementary
Highly recommended by Teachers. Our students have logins:
If there are questions regarding login information, please contact the classroom teacher via ClassDojo.
MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL
Most teachers are making contact via Google Classroom.
It is recommended to provide structure for your student. At school, students get used to their school day structure. Communicating with your child that they will have a structure to follow for the next several weeks will set expectations and set everyone up to make the most out of this period of time.
