Romulus Community Schools District is in the process of “Redesign and Reconfiguration” of the District’s facilities. During the past year, the Board of Education has been working with Administration and Barton Malow in evaluating the utilization of the District’s facilities. Currently, the District is operating seven buildings below capacity: a High School (grades 9-12), a Middle School (grades 6-8), four Elementary Schools (grades K-5) and Cory (PreK GSRP & Head Start). The committee has arrived at three possible redesign scenarios to effectively service our children, reduce operational cost, and to utilize the District’s facilities efficiently.
As the committee moves forward in the redesign and reconfiguration of the District, they are looking for input and comments about these three scenarios from the students, staff, parents and the community.
Romulus Community Schools will be hosting three public forums to seek community input into the “Redistricting and Redesigning” of Romulus Community Schools.
The dates for these forums are:
- September 18th – 6:30 p.m. Room 100 at Romulus Middle School 37300 Wick Rd.
- September 26th – 9:30 a.m. Auditorium at Romulus High School 9650 Wayne Rd.
- September 26th – 6:30 p.m. Auditorium at Romulus High School 9650 Wayne Rd.
These meetings will review the redesign and consolidation options as presented by Barton Malow asking for community input into the “pros and cons” of each selected scenario.
If you cannot attend any of these meetings or want more information about the “Reconfiguration or Redesign” please contact the Central Office Administration at 734-532-1600.
Below are three different preliminary scenarios reducing the district to five buildings with various grade level configurations. Each of these design scenarios provides significant opportunities for our students, staff, and parents.
Please review all three scenarios and visit the district’s website (romulus.net) to complete a survey by ranking each scenario from 1 to 3 and adding positive comments and also comments about possible concerns with the scenario.
Your contribution is vital to reimagining our school district. Please take a moment to provide feedback.
