Welcome to the Romulus Early Childhood Center!

The Romulus Early Childhood Center is committed to providing excellence in early childhood education. We have a highly qualified and trained staff who continually provide a healthy, safe, nurturing and play-based learning environment. Research continues to show the benefits of high-quality preschool programs. We offer full-day, toddler and preschool programs for children 2 1/2 year old to 5 years old for the school year and the summer program. 

The R.E.C.C. curriculum, teaching practices and environment helps your child to grow, develop and learn. The R.E.C.C. utilizes the HighScope curriculum, which aligns with the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for the State of Michigan. It is designed to promote all areas of development including physical development, cognitive development, language/literacy/communication, interpersonal skills and relationships, creative arts, dramatic play and construction. 


Our program provides three indoor recess rooms that include: 

  • a vertical learning wall room 
  • indoor playground room which includes a playscape with a slide and monkey bars
  • a gym which includes tricycles, scooters, tumble mat and a climbing train

Our activity center boast a cardiovascular drumming center and a construction center with 8 different types of building blocks, and a reading section that boast over 2,000 books.

We have an outdoor sensory area which includes sand, a water play area, gardening section and a pathway.

We also have an outdoor courtyard classroom which allows the children to build, draw and learn in the flower, fruit and vegetable gardens.

Preschool 10 Essentials

  1. Intentional use of literacy artifacts in dramatic play and throughout the classroom
  2. Read aloud with reference to print
  3. Interactive read aloud with a comprehension and vocabulary focus
  4. Play with sounds inside words.
  5. Brief, clear, explicit instructions in letter names, the sounds(s) associated with the letters, and how letters are shaped and formed.
  6. Interactions around writing.7. Extended conversation
  7. Provision of abundant reading material in the classroom.
  8. Ongoing observation and assessment of children's language and literacy development that informs their education.
  9. Collaboration with families in promoting literacy.

Enrollment Qualifications:

In order to enroll into our GSRP program your child's birthday must fall within September 1st and December 1st of each current program year.

In order to qualify your child in GSRP, you must have a household size and income that fall on the great start program income eligibility guidelines.

Our program accepts children from any city in Michigan.

The Romulus Early Childhood Center provides preschool education for children aged 2 1/2-5.

R.E.C.C. Food Services:

Our program provides free breakfast, lunch and snacks for enrolled children. Additionally, we provide a monthly menu to parents to reflect the healthy foods your child is receiving at school.

Our Personal Care:

Romulus Early Childhood Center offers an extended care program in the morning and afternoon. Our Extended Care Program starts in the morning at 7am and runs until 6pm. We also provide a summer care program for families from June until the end of August.  There is a fee for this service.

Our program provides complimentary bedding and cots for nappers during rest time.

Program Cost:

Costs for 7am-8:30am = $30 per week for five days 

Costs for 3:30pm-6pm = $40 per week for five days

Celebration Policy 

Wayne RESA has a no celebrate policy which means our center's GSRP classroom cannot celebrate birthdays and holidays.

Nana's Corner Program:

Nana's Corner is a unique learning program that provides daily preschool services for children that are age 2 1/2-5 years old.  We do celebrate holidays and can celebrate birthdays.

This program provides a unique curriculum, which is a topic-based learning program which teaches children about a wide variety of subjects including animals, nature, and world cultures.

The tuition is: $160 for 5 days.

Pay Options: Cash, Check, Money Order or DHS

The program runs from 8:30 to 3:30.

According to Michigan Law (SB 133 (H-1) Sec. 32d) if a child residing in Wayne County is not four years of age on September 1, but will be four years of age no later than December 1 of each year, parent or legal guardian of that child may enroll the child in preschool for that year.

End of Year Carnival

The Romulus Early Childhood Center students had great fun at the end of the year carnival! The event had over 200 people come and check out the different activities offered. It was certainly a fun afternoon for all that attended.
